SUMMARY:Asian Hornets: Spot the threat\, protect our pollinators
DESCRIPTION:Ann Haigh\, an Invasive Species Officer from the National Biodiversity Data Centre\, joins the Irish Wildlife Trust for an informative and engaging webinar on the invasive Asian Hornet (Vespa velutina) and what it means for Ireland. \nThis presentation will introduce the Asian hornet\, outlining relevant biology\, and the threat it poses to Irish pollinators and biodiversity. Ann will cover the history of the Asian Hornet here\, what occurred during the 2025 incursion and what the plans are to protect Ireland in future. \nLearn what actions you can take\, particularly how to identify the Asian Hornet and distinguish it from valuable native species. Our native insects continue to decline\, and it is critical to avoid further harm to them while seeking to keep Ireland free of this invasive species. Ann will demonstrate how to report sightings via the Asian Hornet Reporter. With systems in place to eradicate nests\, the public’s help in correctly identifying and reporting the Asian hornet is the single most important factor in responding to this species. \nRegister for free at the link below.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Invasive Alien Species on Farmland: Practical Solutions from ACRES CP
DESCRIPTION:Join  this Teagasc Signpost Series webinar to learn about  the important work being carried out under ACRES to tackle invasive species across Ireland. \nThis webinar will focus on practical\, on-the-ground actions being implemented through the Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES)\, with a particular emphasis on managing and controlling invasive species in agricultural landscapes. \nLorraine Hope (ACRES West Connacht) will present on ongoing efforts to manage Giant Rhubarb\, and Patricia Deane (ACRES Kerry West Cork) will share insights into work underway to control Rhododendron. \nImage Credit: Donal O’Leary \nRegister for free at the link below.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Bermuda’s Biosecurity
DESCRIPTION:The impacts of invasive non-native species on small islands are often much worse than elsewhere as native flora and fauna have evolved in isolation from predators\, competitors\, and diseases. As a result\, native species are less able to compete and defend themselves in the face of new threats. Join this webinar hosted by the GB Non-native Species Secretariat to learn: \n\nabout some of the emerging biosecurity risks in Bermuda and\nhow the Bermuda National Trust is working to protect native biodiversity by managing invasive non-native species in their nature reserves\n\nWith speakers from the Government of Bermuda and Bermuda National Trust. \nRegister for free at the link below.
