SUMMARY:Training: Marine Non-indigenous and Invasive Species Identification (Portaferry\, Co. Down)
DESCRIPTION:The marine invasive species work programme of the National Biodiversity Data Centre\, in collaboration with CEDaR are hosting three marine non-indigenous and invasive species identification training courses across Ireland to address a gap marine invasive species recording. These courses are funded by the Department of Climate\, Energy and the Environment and CEDaR.  \nThe courses will run over 2 consecutive days and will be delivered by Dr Arjan Gittenberger of GiMaRIS\, a global specialist in the field. Each course will consist of classroom/lab workshop-style learning and some time in the field. \nThis is a closed training event. SUMMARY:Webinar: Using citizen science to prevent future spread of invasive non-native plants
DESCRIPTION:Invasive non-native species harm the environment\, the economy\, our health\, and the way we live. Many of the non-native species found in the wild in Great Britain are plants\, and most were originally introduced for use in gardens. Join this webinar with Coventry University to learn more about the citizen science project Plant Alert (www.plantalert.org) led by the university in collaboration with the Botanical Society for Britain and Ireland. To date\, more than 1\,000 records have been submitted by gardeners and results are used to identify potential invasive plant species of the future and prevent their spread. \nRegister for free at the link below.
