Cherry Laurel Community Information Day – Clare

We are inviting members of the public to join for a community day on Saturday, 27th June as part of Invasive Species Week 2026. For the past 3 years, with the help of volunteers, we’ve been working to remove invasive Cherry Laurel along the river and planted over 4,000 native saplings in its place. We will be speaking on our methodology and approach for removing this invasive species from The Glen. Cherry Laurel is one of Ireland’s most problematic invasive plant species. It spreads rapidly, creating dense shade that suppresses native plants, reduces biodiversity, and prevents the natural regeneration of woodlands.
