National Museum of Ireland – Natural History, Merrion Street, Dublin 2	The aims of the analysis were to: (1) describe the structure and demographics of the first Irish V. velutina colonies, (2) determine whether the nests may have produced reproductively viable hornets before they were destroyed and (3) prepare samples for genetic analysis.
